About Dayna
Dayna Shulack has had a camera in hand since a very young age. Her grandmother, Connie, gave her the gift of photography when she handed her an old Minolta camera and a fresh roll of Kodak film. Throughout the years, Dayna had numerous cameras and thousands of images. Some of those images were lost forever on rolls of film that were never developed. Dayna ventured into different mediums of art through elementary and high school, trying her hand at traditional art, sculpting and music, yet always returned to photography. When she was 15, she learned that her paternal grandfather, Bruce Harding of New York, had shot and worked for the prestigious National Geographic for nearly 3o years. She set her sights to eventually work for the magazine but in 2003, discovered that her passion lay in portraiture.
Over the last 9 years, she has perfected her craft of capturing her subjects true personality in a still frame. That is not to say that she has stopped learning. She is dedicated to educating herself with the newest and most innovative technologies and editing techniques available. She is a firm believer in Nikon products and loves to share her knowledge with other photographers, students and adults and children who are just starting to dabble in the hobby. Dayna started offering workshops and classes to the general public a few years ago and found that to be extremely rewarding, especially when one of her young students, Makayla, won multiple blue ribbons at the Fryeburg Fair Photography Exhibit.
Dayna's 8 year old daughter, Kaia, has also picked up the passion for photography and has produced images that have turned the heads of even the most seasoned professionals. Kaia is educated in simple edits using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and will be joining Dayna a few days a month in the studio to practice her skills and give new perspective to children's portraits.
Dayna is known for her laid back style of shooting and making her clients feel comfortable. She strives to make her clients happy and puts her full efforts into making each subject feel unique, attractive and comfortable with their photos. Over the years, her client base has grown exponentially and she will travel anywhere in the world to provide her services. The prestigious Cambridge Who's Who has recognized Dayna Shulack Photography as one of Western Maine's Premier Portrait Photographers for the last 4 years. An award that humbled her, yet drove her to become even better at her craft.
Dayna is available on a very limited basis for weddings, as they take several painstaking hours of post edit. She believes that a wedding should not be rushed and will only book a certain number of weddings each year in order to ensure that you, the client, are getting the absolute best quality Dayna Shulack Photography can provide.
